When installing pond edging stones, it’s important to ensure that pond edges are slightly raised above garden soil to prevent nutrient-rich soil from entering the pond which will encourage algae growth. Materials should be firmly fitted especially with projecting stones, to avoid displacement during the winter months. It’s advisable to avoid metals when creating your pond as if it gets in contact with pond water it may release toxic substances. When fitting a pond liner, dig a trench around the pond edge. Ensure the pond liner is overlapped and use the pond edging stones to weigh the liner down. Then press the stones firmly in place to ensure stability and conceal the liner effectively.
